Living sustainability right from the start

Sustainability is deeply rooted in GESCO's DNA: most of our companies are many decades old. As a long-term investor, we continue their proven business models and develop them further together with the respective management. Without sustainable business practices, these SMEs would not be where they are today.

There are therefore many good reasons why GESCO takes responsibility for human rights and environmental risks, social conditions and sustainable business practices.

These arguments make it clear that taking responsibility for ESG standards is not only ethically correct, but also strategically prudent and can be decisive for the long-term stability and success of GESCO.

Companies that act in a socially and environmentally responsible manner enjoy a higher reputation in society. A strong ESG performance should increase brand value and strengthen the trust of investors, employees, business partners and all other stakeholders.

Taking human rights and environmental risks into account helps to minimise legal and financial risks. GESCO proactively identifies and manages risks in order to be better prepared for changing framework conditions.

In many regions, laws and regulations are increasingly being introduced that require companies to report openly on their ESG practices. Proactive measures ensure that GESCO fulfils these requirements and avoids potential sanctions.

Companies that invest in sustainability can set themselves apart from their competitors. Responsible business practices attract environmentally and socially conscious customers who are willing to pay a higher price for sustainable products and services.

More and more investors are favouring companies with strong ESG practices. A focus on sustainability and responsible business practices can facilitate access to capital and boost investor confidence.

Companies that assume social responsibility and promote a positive corporate culture attract talented employees and can reduce staff turnover. Employees are increasingly looking for employers who share their values and are committed to social and environmental issues.

Sustainable business promotes a long-term mindset that goes beyond short-term profits. Companies that integrate social and environmental concerns are better positioned to meet future challenges and market changes.

Listed companies have an influence on society and therefore also a responsibility to shape it in a positive way. Respect for human rights and a commitment to social justice contribute to a fairer and more sustainable society.

Awareness of and commitment to ESG issues increase stakeholder satisfaction and loyalty. By involving their stakeholders in decisions and taking their concerns seriously, companies can build strong, long-term relationships.

In a rapidly changing world, companies that operate responsibly and focus on sustainability are better prepared to adapt to new market demands, technologies and societal expectations.
